He had been in pretty good health for one of his age until about a month before his death. The funeral services were held from the Methodist Church in this city Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. H. I. Dolson, the Odd Fellows, of which fraternity the deceased was a member acting as pallbearers. The remains were buried in the McCune Cemetery.
Mr. Lucas was born in Greene County, Pennsylvania, September 25, 1842, being 77 years, 2 months, and 10 days of age at the time of his death. He served his country in 36th Ohio and 13th regulars. They are as follows: Sherman Lucas of Columbus, Indiana, Earl Lucas and Mrs. Enos Deill of McCune and Mrs. Dell Montee of Strauss.
Besides his children he leaves one brother, Tipton Lucas of Corning, Iowa and one sister, Mrs. Mariah Harden of Columbus, Indiana and a number of grandchildren.
