DeMotte Lady Dies Following Long Illness

Mrs. Anna Free Dies at Local Hospital Wednesday Afternoon; Rites Set For Saturday

Mrs. Anna Free, who had made her home in DeMotte with her niece, Mrs. Al Melchert, since going there from Fort Orchard, Wash., three years ago, died at Jasper County hospital at 2:20 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Death was caused by diabetes. She had been in ill health for three years.

Mrs. Free was born in Chicago, August 26, 1878, a daughter of Joseph and Mary (Barabas) Brichacek, and was married to Jay Free in 1907. He is deceased. She was a member of Royal Neighbor Lodge of Chicago.

Surviving are three brothers and three sisters, James, Joe and John Brichacek, all of Browerville, Minn., Mrs. Josephine Olsen of DeMotte, Mrs. Barbara Mikish of Browerville and Mrs. Mary Glass of Cicero, Ill.

Funeral services will be held from Bohemian National Cemetery Chapel, 5200 N. Pulaski Road, Chicago, at 11 o'clock Saturday. The Rev. Debert Smith will be in charge. Cremation will follow. The remains will be at Todd's Funeral Home in DeMotte until early Saturday morning.
