Amasa Watson was born July 4, 1856 at Fayetteville, Arkansas, the son of William Albert Watson II and Sarah Ann Howell Watson. He married Frances Margaret Jones on June 5, 1891 in Tobucksy County, Choctaw Indian Territory. Frances preceded him in death October 24, 1903 as did a baby daughter, Sudie F. Watson, on May 1, 1901. He left two children to mourn him, Mary Rebecca Watson and Amasa Howell Watson.
Mr. Watson was an aged and respected citizen of the North End. He died Sunday after a year's illness. The funeral was conducted from the house on Krebs Avenue this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. He was one of the pioneers of McAlester. He was a good man and will be greatly missed.
