Daughter, niece, wife & daughter-in-law of Confederate Veterans. Married Lycurgus Alsup (10/24/1867) and migrated to Bastrop Co., Texas with her parents and other family. Lycurgus & she returned to Monroe, Co., Mississippi after Lycurgus suffered from malaria. Mary & Lycurgus' children: Fannie Myrtle Alsup Carothers, Charles Buford Alsup, Clarence Alsup, Claude Lycurgus Alsup, William Kirby Alsup, Mary Mildred Alsup Teaford. I have several pictures of the children through their lives, but do not know which (other than the daughters). Raised infant granddaughter Fannie Myrtle Carothers for several years after daughter Fannie Myrtle's untimely death. Spent her last years with daughter Mary, in Townley, Walker, Alabama.

Per her granddaughter, Jimmie Carothers Gray, who knew her and kept in touch with daughter Mary Teaford until her death in 1968: Mary Elizabeth Whitworth, had brown eyes and dark hair.
