Carter, Grant Burke age 83 of Alcoa, TN and born in Newport, TN, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a combat veteran of WWII, serving in the 20th Armored Division in Europe and later in the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Vulcan Materials Corporation in Knoxville with 34 years of service. He was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Louisville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford C. Sr. & Arlie D. Carter; brother, Clifford C. (Nick) Carter, Jr.; sisters, Dorothy Vernon, Dale Carter, Marian Honaker and Eunice Davis. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn A. Carter; sister & brother-in-law, Ruth & John Fouche; sister-in-law, Carolyn Gibbs and husband, Robert Gibbs; brother-in-law, Fred Alderman & wife, Jean Alderman; sister-in-law, Imogene Alderman. Family and friends will assemble for graveside service and entombment at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 12, 2006 at Grandview Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Mike Ogle officiating.
