Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Camp Branch Primitive Baptist Church for John Amos Turner, 30, son of Mrs. J. E. Turner and J. E. Turner, who was attacked by two unidentified men at his home in Norfolk Monday night, sustaining a fractured skull that caused his death Tuesday morning.
Turner was slugged by two unknown assailants in a robbery attempt, it was learned.
The remains were brought to Figsboro, the former home of the deceased's family, Wednesday morning.
Services were held at the church and burial followed in the church cemetery.
The following were active pall bearers: W. B. Turner, J. C. Turner, S. W. Turner, John W. Jamerson, J. William Jamerson and J. U. Jamerson.
Surviving besides his mother are the following brothers and sisters: C. W. Turner, Emmitt Turner and Milton Turner, all of Norfolk, S. O. Turner of Alexandria; Mesdames R. L. Puckett, Paul Phillips and John Hodges, all of Norfolk; Earl Jones, Washington, D.C.; C. P. Parcell and H. S. Goodson of Roanoke; Jennie Phlegar of Newport News; Misses Catherine Turner, New York City, and Garnett Turner of Norfolk.
The deceased moved from the Figsboro community with his parents about 15 years ago.
His father preceded him to the grave several years ago.
