PIERCE, MARINTHA

Mrs. Marintha Pierce was born July 29, 1830; died May 1, 1886, aged 55 years, 9 months, and 2 days. Mrs. Pierce's illness was very brief, being sick only ten days and only five or six days low. On the morning after her death some of the friends were excited over her death and seemed to think that there was still life in the body, when Dr. and Mrs. Cuthbert were called in, and a thorough examination of the body showed that she was dead. The friends were then satisfied. The remains were interred in the Belle Plaine Cemetery, Sunday.

All of the friends and neighbors extend their sympathy to Mr. Pierce and family in their sad bereavement, and would say to him to look forward to the time appointed in the Scriptures when there will be a reunion of friends and relatives gone before. Mrs. Pierce was a true Christian and prepared to meet her God in peace. She was loved and esteemed by all. It is a comfort to her many friends to know that if they follow her example through life that they may lay down in death in peace and be at home with Him who has said, unless you humble yourself as a little child you can in no wise enter the kingdom of heaven. We extend the heartfelt sympathy of the neighborhood in general in behalf of Father Pierce in his bereavement. He is left in a sorrowful state, no one to do anything for him. He has a small girl that is an orphan child that they raised, but she being too small to do anything, it leaves them deserving of the sympathy of friends and neighbors in their sad bereavement.
