It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear wife and mother, Ella Standing, on Thursday, June 1, 2006, at the C.B. Regional Hospital. Born in Burgeo, Nfld., she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Katherine (Powers) Hatcher.
Ella was a very kind and gentle lady who loved children. She was particularly fond of Halloween, as she would anxiously await the arrival of many children at her door. She was also a loving and devoted wife. She would be often seen walking hand in hand with her husband Nate on their daily strolls downtown. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Olive, a son, Nathaniel, a granddaughter, Janet, a grandson, Robert and by several sisters and brothers. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St. North Sydney. Funeral service will be held Monday 3 p.m. from St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney. Burial to follow in Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
