Hugh Colton Daniels, 77 (b. 5 Oct 1925), of Waynesville passed away early Monday morning, Oct. 28, (2002), at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center (Brunswick), following a brief illness.

A native of Brantley County, he was a son of the late Jim Daniels and Julia Rozier Daniels and was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Palmetto Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Mae O'Quinn Daniels of Waynesville, one daughter, Glenda A. Taylor (Glenn) of Folkston, four sons, Denny H. Daniels (Venessa), Charles W. Daniels (Peggy), James C. Daniels (Renea) and John Glenn Daniels, all of Waynesville; three brothers, Archie Daniels, Eulis Daniels and Dennis Daniels, all of Waynesville; four sisters, Loree Kelly and Louise Keene, both of Waynesville, Eula Mae Head of Waverly, and Ola Mae Cantrell of Tennessee; also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct 30, from the Palmetto Pentecostal Church with the Revs. William "Punkin" Johns, Joseph Middleton and David Inman, officiating.

Burial followed in the Palmetto Church Cemetery (Brantley County).

Pallbearers were Mikey Dixon, Charles Daniels, Wetzel Head, Willie Earnest Turner, Kenny Daniels, Tommy Daniels, Huey Herrin and Larry Daniels.

Joel Chambless Funeral Home of Nahunta assisted the family with arrangements.
