Rachel Abbott Wolfley (1835-1911) is the great-great-great grandmother of President Barack Obama. Wolfley's husband, Robert, was a veteran of the Civil War. After he died, she relocated from Olathe, Kansas, to Everett, Washington. Here, she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Addie and Nathan Butts, at 3611 Hoyt Avenue. Wolfley spent the last four years of her life in Everett. The Butts, who died in 1936 and 1937, respectively, are buried next to Wolfley in Evergreen Cemetery. In October 2008, genealogists and historians confirmed Wolfley's connection to Barack Obama and uncovered her modest, cement headstone in Evergreen Cemetery.
