HILLS - Phillip Sheridan Hills , age 45, of 1777 Park Ave., passed away at the home of his stepdaughter, Mrs. Ruth Bell, Mar. 20, 1951. He was born July 17, 1865, in Eugene, Oregon. His parents settled on a donation land claim on Hills Creek Road in 1847. Phillip Hills lived 77 years on Hills Creek. He was married to Ida Whitaker Cole (illegible) 5, 1927, in Eugene in 1947 and he had been residing with his stepdaughter, Mrs. Ruth Bell. Mr. Hills was a pioneer member of the Jasper Christian church. Surviving are his wife, Ida; 1 daughter, Mrs. Frona Hack of Eugene; stepsons, Henry Cole of Fruitland, Ida., Wenton Cole of Eugene, Edward Cole of Mapleton, Lotice (sp) Cole of Texas and Boyd Cole of Twin Falls, Idaho; 2 stepdaughters, Mrs. Mae (illegible) of Dexter, Mrs. Ruth Bell of Eugene; 22 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 23 nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 24 at 2:00 p.m. at the (illegible) Memorial Methodist Church, 6th and C St., Springfield, Rev. Robert W. Burtner officiating with interment in the Coburg I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Poole-Larsen in charge.
