Excerpt -- Nancy Katherine (Wolfe) Laurence was born June 22, 1847, departed this life Apr. 8, 1926, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. I. Murray of Newburg, at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 16 days. She was united in marriage to William T. Laurence March 3, 1867. To this union were born eleven children, five of whom preceded her to the great- beyond. She leaves to mourn their loss her husband, five daughters and one son, namely, Mrs. J. I. Murray, Mrs. M. M. Bolyard, Mrs. A. B. Zinn, Mrs. Amanda Shaw, Mrs. W. W. Poulson, and William Laurence, Jr., also 24 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. When young she joined the M. E. church and lived an exemplary Christian life, although an invalid, unable to walk for twenty years, she bore her suffering without a murmur. Her work was well done and her kind words and smiles will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Owing to the illness of her husband the funeral services were conducted at the home Sunday afternoon by Rev. W. F. McKain after which the remains were taken to the Sharps Cemetery where interment was made. (Noted issues with this obit; first of all the name is Nancy Cathryn Lawrence, second, she was buried in Shays Chapel Cemetery.)
