RESIDENT, DIES
Mrs. Gertie Jane Morgan, 83, of Greensburg, a former resident of southern Rush County, died at 11 p.m. Monday in Heritage House, Shelbyville, after several years of poor health.
Mrs. Morgan spent most of her married life in the Milroy community before moving in 1942 to Greensburg, where she resided at 904 Trailan Drive. She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Milroy and the Order of Eastern Star and World War II Mothers at Greensburg.
She was born in Decatur County on April 4, 1886, the daughter of Solon and Lucy Hankins Lee, and was married on October 14, 1903, to Frank Morgan, who died in 1934.
Surviving are five sons, Howard of Palm Springs, Calif., Lowell of New Castle, Donald of Franklin, Harold of Batesville and Frank Morgan of Greensburg; four daughters, Mrs. Mertis (Eura) Cassin of Tipton, Mrs. Alfred (Jean) Henningsen and Mrs. Raymond (Lois) Hadler of Greensburg and Miss Maxine Morgan at home.
Also surviving are three brothers, Wilbur, Everett, and Roy Lee, all of Rushville; two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Icenogle of Milroy and Mrs. Gladys Barber of Greensburg, 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Three sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
A nephew of the deceased, the Rev. Stanley Icenogle of Greensburg, will conduct services at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral home in Greensburg, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday, with burial in the Milroy Cemetery.
