George and his wife sold land in Bourbon County, Kentucky, on November 1, 1830. They had purchased their first land in Jefferson County, Indiana, on April 27, 1830. George purchased 110 acres in Ripley County, Indiana, on 10 April 10, 1831. Their farm spanned the county boundary.
NOTE: George McLaughlin's grave site was in the McLaughlin Cemetery several hundred feet west of the Buchanan Cemetery. His tombstone and others in the McLaughlin Cemetery were moved to the Buchanan Cemetery between 1972 and 1984.
