John Ings-Daysh was the 6th of 15 children (5 sons) of John and Elizabeth (nee Clark) Ing-Daysh. He was 7 months old when, along with his parents and 5 siblings, they emigrated to New Zealand on the GERTRUDE in Oct 1841. They all settled in Taita, Lower Hutt.
NOTE .. His grandfather was John Ings (1779-1858). When his father John emigrated to New Zealand he had added the name Daysh to the end of his name. The 6 children born in England have the hyphenated name of Ings-Daysh but the 9 children born in New Zealand do not, they are simply Daysh.
