He was born in Louisville, KY, but had resided in Lucedale for many years. He was a member of the Baptist faith. He died January 24 in a Mobile, Ala., hospital following a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife (now deceased Vernett Colburn); five daughters; two sons; 20 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Also surviving are four sisters (two now deceased Margaret Smith and Ruth Robertson)
Services were conducted by Rev. Homer Bexley and Rev. Grady Summerlin. Interment was in the Rhymes Cemetery with George County Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
