Dale Glidewell
1934-2009
Dale Eugene Glidewell, 74, St. Joseph, passed away Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Dale was born on Nov. 19, 1934, in Utica, Mo., to Ernest and Martha (Meeker) Glidewell.
He lived in Osgood, Mo., before moving to St. Joseph in 1954.
Dale met Pat Hart while working at Noma Lites on Sept. 5, 1954, and married her two weeks later, on Sept. 24, 1954, at 11th Street Baptist Church, where he was a member. They enjoyed 54 years together.
Dale worked at Dugdales from 1955 to 1974 and then retired from MO Highway Transportation as a Maintenance Supervisor in August 1994.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marie Cox; and infant grandson, Cory Glidewell.
Dale leaves behind his wife, Pat, of the home; seven sons, Rod and Tracy Glidewell, Columbia, Mo., Dave and Andrea Glidewell, St. Joseph, Mike and Susan Glidewell, Savannah, Mo., Rick and Melanie Glidewell, Randy and Lisa Glidewell, and Tim and Bonnie Glidewell, all of St. Joseph, and Jim and Ann Glidewell, Savannah; one brother, Ernie and Ruth Glidewell, Savannah; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two aunts, Vada O'Dell, Los Angeles, Calif., and Jeannie Allison, Comanche, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Service: 1 p.m. Thursday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph. Interment: Mt. Auburn Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Chapel, where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
