Ernest "Ernie" Glidewell Jr., 77, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016.
Ernie was born on July 26, 1938, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to the late Ernest Sr. and Martha (Meeker) Glidewell.
Ernie married Ruth Carolyn Broce on April 19, 1958, in Elwood, Kansas. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Mosaic Life Care after 39 years in maintenance.
In addition to his parents, Ernie is preceded in death by: daughter, Cheryl Bennett; brother, Dale Glidewell: and sister, Marie Cox.
Surviving family includes: wife, Ruth Glidewell, St. Joseph; four children, Danny Glidewell, Osborn, Missouri, Bobby Glidewell (Terry Adams), Savannah, Missouri, Kathy Rowlison (Blake) Colorado Springs, Colorado, Laura Bressman (Brian), Kansas City, Missouri; son-in-law, Dave Bennett, St. Joseph; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden chapel after 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, at our chapel in St. Joseph.
Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, at Heaton-Bowman Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, followed by full U.S. Military Honors.
The family has requested Memorials be made to the American Cancer Society to aid colon cancer research.
