Mabel was the daughter of Aiden & Rachel Macy Edson Hensley. On 13 Jul 1918, she married Cecil Howard Hensley. Together they became the parents of Margaret (Massaglia), Cecil Leonard, Betty (Benedet), and Melba Mardell (Owen).

She was very close to her half-sister Viola O'Connor (Perry) and is buried in the same cemetery and very close to her.

Mabel was a direct descendant of Isaac Peabody, Sr., and Isaac Peabody, Jr, and Abraham Burton. These men are recognized as patriots of the Revolutionary War by the DAR.
