WEST POINT - John Lyle Bedford, 90, an 82-year resident of West Point, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, in Kingwood, Texas. He was the husband of Elizabeth Bedford of Kingwood.
Born March 2, 1918, in Baldwyn, he retired as superintendent of mails for the U.S. Postal Service in West Point, where he worked for many years. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the American Legion.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until noon Monday at Robinson Funeral Home in West Point. Services will begin at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Dale Funderburg officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
He also is survived by three children, John Bedford Jr. (Sharon) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Emily Schepens (Jim) and Paula Bedford, all of Kingwood; six grandchildren, Tina Bedford, Greg Schepens, Phil Schepens (Tiffany), Bob Carothers (Dana), Carissa Walker (Clay), Chuck Carothers (Kristina); and four great-grandchildren.
