Ellen Ruth Hancock, 87, rural Lizton, died Friday, Oct. 6 (1989) in Autumn Care Nursing Home, Brownsburg. A native of Boone County, she was born Aug. 2, 1902 to Hother and Mary Alice (Carney) Ragsdale. May 7, 1919 she married Orville Hancock at New Brunswick and he preceded her in death Aug. 17, 1983. Services were Monday, Oct. 9 in Myers Mortuary, Lebanon. Rev. Raymond Duff officiated, with burial in Old Union Cemetery. Survivors include daughters: LaVerne Castleman, Dot Jarrett, Gloria McKinney and JoAnn Hamilton; sons: Melvin L. "Buss" Hancock, Charles W. and Richard Hancock; sister, Vivian Ragsdale; 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
