Vivian E. Ragsdale, affectionately known as "Aunty B", a native and former
resident of Boone County, died Friday evening (Feb. 8, 1991) at the Kennedy
Living Center in Martinsville. She was 91. Miss Ragsdale was born in this
county Dec. 15, 1899. Her parents were Hother Albert and Mary Jane (Carney)
Ragsdale. She had resided in Indianapolis most of her life. She graduated
from Lizton High School in 1919 and attended Sanderson Business College in
Indianapolis. She had worked for Farmers Mutual Liability and then Meridian
Mutual for 35 years, serving as automobile rates supervisor. She retired
Dec. 31, 1964.

Miss Ragsdale enjoyed traveling and was well known for her crocheting and
embroidery work, which she gave to her family and friends. She had a wide
circle of friends who greatly admired and respected her for her sharing and
caring and kind and gracious manners.

She was a member of the Olive Branch Christian Church in Indianapolis where
she taught Sunday School for 35 years and also was active in the Christian
Women's Fellowship. She was also a member of the Eastern Star Chapter at
Beech Grove and the White Cross Guild at Methodist Hospital.

The only immediate survivors are a halfbrother, Albert Ragsdale, who resides
in Lebanon, and a halfsister, Violet Denhart of Michigan. Several nieces
and nephews also survive. Preceding her in death were brothers Orval and
Ira Ragsdale and sisters Ruth Hancock, Edith Hedge and Maggie Menefee.

The funeral is arranged for 1 p.m. Monday at the Russell & Hitch Funeral
Home where visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service. Interment is
to be at Old Union.
