Daughter of Elijah and Elizabeth (Power) Groves and wife to John Warren Gardner, son of John F. Elizabeth C. (Mayfield) Gardner. The 1880 census shows: J. W. Gardner (35 MS) , Emma (30 MS), Claude (11 MS), Juddy (9 MS), Willie (7 MS), Pearl (5 MS), Lou (3 MS), and Lawrance (1 MS). J. W. Gardner is given as “merchant dry goods”. He also served as the City of Columbus treasurer 1892-1896. After the death of Emma, John Warren Gardner married Willie Barrentine and is buried in Friendship Cemetery. Children of John W. and Emma (Groves) Gardner were:
