Granddaughter Of Former Simpson Sheriff Dies Following Accident
MAGEE, Nov. 15 -- Barbara Bishop, 4-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grover Bishop of Magee, who died after being struck near her home Saturday by a truck, was buried in the Magee cemetery.
The child died of injuries sustained when the back end of a trailer swung around and struck her as she played in the road near her home. The driver of the vehicle, a Mr. Cockrell, in attempting to avoid hitting the child, swerved his machine out of the road, but the trailer he was carrying swung around, felling the youngster. The accident was described as unavoidable.
Funeral services were held from the Goshen Baptist church of Magee. The Rev. G. O. Parker, pastor of the Magee Baptist church, officiated. He was assisted in the services by the Rev. D. W. Moulder of Sylvarena.
Besides her parents, the child leaves three sisters, Juanita Bishop, Pansylyn Bishop and Patricia Ann Bishop all of Magee; her grandparents, the Rev. and Mrs. T. W. Bishop of Magee and Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Kelly of Collins.
She was the granddaughter of the Rev. Bishop, who for a number of years was a member of the board of supervisors of this county, and T. M. Bishop, [i.e.her uncle] former Simpson county sheriff.

Barbara Bishop MS DC # 38-19126
Cause of death: Traumatic crushing injury to chest
Death certificate states she was struck by large truck on the highway near her home on Nov 12 at 5:00 pm.
I have used the death certificate birth/death dates as the headstone differs. I do believe this is a replacement headstone. As headstone did read "She was the sunshine of our home."
