I can not say why the tombstone show Paralee's date of birth as 1871, but her death certificate has her correct date of birth June 15, 1857. I know this is correct because she is listed in the 1860 census with her parents and the census shows her age as two years old. Her name was Tennessee Paralee Pearson.

Unknown Newspaper, January 1943

Tennessee Parlee Pearson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sherwood Pearson, was born June 15, 1857 and departed this life at the home of her youngest son, Fred, of Vancleve on January 2, 1943. Her age at the time of her departure was eighty-four years, six months and eighteen days.

She was united in marriage sixty years ago to John M. Renfrow and to this union were born six children, three girls and three boys. A son and a daughter died in infancy and one daughter, Lizzy Melton, died at the age of twenty-one. The surviving are Della Andrews of Kansas and Fred and Egbert of Vancleve.

Besides her children she leaves to mourn one brother, Charley Pearson of Vienna, and one sister, Lizabell Brazier of Pueblo, Colorado; eight grandchildren, Mrs. Walter Abbott, Mrs. Charlie Flint, Edwin Andrews, Mrs. Henry Lange, Mrs. Henry Dickneite, Mrs. Vernon Helton, Mrs. Leonard Wilson and Miss Leota Renfrow, and eleven great-grandchildren.

In addition to caring for her own children she reared one granddaughter, Lola Dickneite, and one niece, Mrs. Dick William of Ionia.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon of last week at the Campground Church near Vancleve, Reverent Warren Burd of Iberia officiating, and burial was in the Campground Cemetery, Undertaker H.H. Strope in charge.

Mrs. Renfrow united with the Christian Church at Campground forty years ago. She was always ready to assist anyone in time of need or to help in any worthy community enterprise. She was a good mother, loved her family dearly and always enjoyed visiting among her children. She will be sadly be missed by all.

Now, Grandma, your vacant chair sets here
We will miss you more and more
But hope to meet you in Heaven
When this life is o'er -a granddaughter
