Captola Cherrington Murdock was born in Springville, UT March 12, 1910, and died in Provo, Ut on March 9, 1999 of causes incident to age.

She was the eldest child and one of three daughters and two sons born to Amyot W. and Hilda (Wheeler) Cherrington. She grew up and received her basic education in Springville. She attended BYU and graduated from Utah State University in 1932. She had been post graduated study in Food and Nutrition and Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, IL and went to Chicago and began that program in August 1932.

While in Chicago she met and married a young widower, W. Blaine Murdock. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on December 23, 1932. Their first son was born March 16, 1934; eventually they would have four sons and two daughters. They were transferred to New Jersey and stayed there until 1945 when they returned to Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two children.

She is survived by four children: Ted (JoAn), Salt Lake City; Robert (Geralee), Salt Lake City; A. Kent ( Carolyn), Springville; Virginia (Richard) Dolinar, American Fork; one daughter-in-law: Jewel C. Murdock, American Fork; 24 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was an excellent teacher having taught in the public school system for nine years. She and her companion served a full-time mission for the LDS Church in the New England States in 1962 and 1963. And again a full-time temple mission at the Manti Temple in 1969, 1970 and 1971. She was a lifetime member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities during her lifetime. She was an excellent cook, good friend and companion. She will be greatly missed.
