William Bassat was NOT: born in Dorking, Surrey and baptized 24 May 1624 to Roger and Ann (Holland) Bassett. He came in 1635 from London in the company of Rev. Peter Hobart. He removed to the Colony of New Haven.

He married HANNAH (DICKERMAN) IVES, widow of WILLIAM IVES, on November 7, 1648 in New Haven. The court required that he put up a security for the estate of the children of William & Hannah Ives before he married the widow Ives.


William & Hannah Bassett were the parents of at least four children:

Hannah (Bassett) Parker

Capt. John Bassat

Samuel Bassat

Abiah (Bassett) Lines
