Jefferson City Post-Tribune, Monday, February 24, 1930:

The funeral of William Markway, who died at the hospital at 6:30 Saturday evening after a week's illness of appendicitis, will take place Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock from the Catholic church at Wardsville, of which he was a lifelong member.

Markway was brought here late Wednesday for an operation for acute appendicitis. The operation came too late to save him. He is mourned by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Markway, five brothers, Ben, Henry, Al, Fred, Jr., with whom he conducted a farm at Wardsville; Frank, of Lamar, Colorado, two adopted brother, Joe and Herman Gangwich, and four sisters, Mrs. Leo DeBroeck, Mrs. Jacob Kolb, Mrs. Roy Stockman and Mrs. Louis Mehmert.

Markway was one of the leading young farmers of the county and had a wide acquaintance.
