Death of Mrs. James.

Friday morning at 2 o'clock Mrs. Dicey A. James, the beloved wife of John M. James, departed this life at her home, corner of Tenth and Waterman avenue. Mrs. James has been ill for some weeks with that dread disease, consumption. All that was possible was done for her, but to no avail.

Mrs. James leaves three daughters to mourn her loss. Two are at present in this city and one down in Mexico. Mrs. James was a lady loved and respected by all who knew her. She had a kind and lovable disposition, which drew friends to her.

The funeral takes place this afternoon from the residence at 2 o'clock.

The COURIER extends its heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.

Mrs. James was born in Kentucky in 1839; came to California when 10 years of age, and settled in the northern portion of the state. She came to this county in 1874 and in 1885 was married to John M. James, an old and respected citizen of this city.
