THE PURCELL REGISTER, Thursday, September 26, 1946-
Baker Rites Held In Lexington- Mrs. Melda Baker, 88, resident of
Lexington since 1898, passed away Tuesday at her home there after a short illness.
A native of Kentucky, she spent her early life in that state until
she came to Oklahoma in 1895 (See Mother). She established her home in Lexington and had lived there since that time.
Services were conducted Wednesday afternoon in the First Baptist
Church of Lexington. Interment was made in the Martin Hill Cemetery under the direction of Yoakum Funeral Home.

Survived by 2 sons, John Baker, Wanette; and George Baker, Trousdale; five daughters, Mrs Sarah Anderson, Lexington; Mrs Nancy Porter, Trousdale; Mrs Rachel Chambers, Dallas; Mrs Ida Cossey, Brentwood, California; and Hettie Malicoat, Wanette; 2 brothers, John Powers of Carnegie and Berry Powers, Erick. 31 grandchildren and 53 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren
