George W. Baker born in Williamsburgh, Bell County, Kentucky, came to Oklahoma at an early age, settling in the Wanette area of Pottawatomie County before the turn of the century.
He married Lucy Ellen "Nellie" Smith in Purcell, Okla., 20 Jun 1906. He farmed most of his life near Wanette and retired from farming in 1949, moving to Oklahoma City. He died in the University hospital there and was buried in the Wanette cemetery.
