13 Aug 1865: Marries Emmeline "Tabitha" Hazelwood in Pickens County, GA. (She is the first of 5 wives). She dies around 1873-1874
1874: Marries 2nd wife, Hester Ann T. Prather. No date, just approximate year known
26 Dec 1876: 4th child / 2nd son born, Jasper Douglas Dorsey (my G-Grandfather). She dies 5 Feb 1885
30 May 1885: Marries 3rd wife, Bettie Ray. She dies 1890
15 Dec 1895: Marries 4th wife, Mrs. Ophelia Summey in Cartersville, Bartow Co, GA
This marriage/divorce has lots of contradicting info. 1900 Census has Ophelia Summey Dorsey living with her parents with her and Benjamin's 3 year old daughter, Margaret. She is shown as married with the Dorsey name; the 1900 Census shows Benjamin as a widower living with his parents with some of his children from 3rd wife. Ophelia is buried with Summey as the last name on her headstone. Assume that Ophelia Summey Dorsey and Benjamin divorced.
2 Jan 1910 (24 Dec 1910): Marries 5th wife, Martha Angeline Wofford Seay. Their marriage date is shown as 1901 on a lot of genealogy information on the web. Copy of marriage License shows marriage date as 24 Dec 1910. Per Martha's 'Application for Pension Due Deceased Soldier', one of the questions is "Date of Marriage": 02 Jan 1910 was her answer. The document is signed by Martha Dorsey and has an Approval seal from Ordinary W.O. Westbrook of Pickens County, GA. There is also an 'Affidavit of Witness's signed by T.E. Johnson. National Archives, Microfilm #266, Roll# 349. I have a copy of marriage certificate, Pickens County marriage record Book "C", page 415. A copy of their Marriage License show marriage date as 24 Dec 1910.
21 Nov 1929: Benjamin Franklin Dorsey enters Georgia State Mental Hospital in Milledgeville, Baldwin County, GA. He is taken there by his son, Frank Dorsey and daughter, Sallie Dorsey Cox. Hospital records state that he is about 75 years old (he is 82) and is separated from his wife.
He died: 21 Dec 1929 at 9:55AM in Georgia State Mental Hospital in Milledgeville, Baldwin County, GA. He was taken back to Jasper, Pickens County, GA where he lived most of his life and is buried at Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery

Obituary on the front page of the Dec 1929 (Christmas Edition) Pickens Progess Newspaper
'ANOTHER CONFEDERATE ANSWERS LAST CALL'
Mr. B.F. Dorsey, an aged Confederate veteran died at the state sanitarium in Milledgeville Saturday at ninety-two years of age. When the call for volunteers came in '61, Mr. Dorsey was one of the first to volunteer for Dixie and among all that wore the gray there were non braver and his old comrades have often told us of his deeds of valor. To recite his military record would be to repeat the history of the Army of Northern Virginia. It is sufficient to say he fought with Lee and Johnson. He leaves the following children; Frank Jr., of Marietta; J.D. of Calhoun; Logan, of Dallas, Texas; Mrs. Jane Wigington, of Burnt Mountain, GA; Mrs. Sallie Cox, of Tate, GA; Mrs. Manda Elrod, of Tennessee, and Mrs. H.K. Patterson of Talking Rock. He was married five times; first to Miss Adeline Hazelwood; second to Hesteran Prather; third Miss Bittie Ray; fourth, a Miss Summie; fifth, Mrs Martha Seay, who survives him. He also leaves two sisters, mrs. Sallie Morris and Mrs. John Burgess, both of Jasper, GA. A few weeks ago is mind gave away, up until that time he possessed unusually good health. His body was brought home for burial. Funeral services were conducted at Philadelphia Monday afternoon by rev. G.F. Compton. Richard and Company funeral directors were in charge."
