Hiram Benjamin Hundley was Re-elected Mayor of Martinsville Tuesday, without opposition, and killed himself Wednesday.
His body was found in a room used as an office over his store by his brother-in-law, Mr. John H. Dyer, who recalled having heard a pistol shot in the morning about 11 o'clock.
He was 59 years of age, and leaves a widow, who was Miss Lucy Dyer, and two daughters, Misses Mamie and Mattie Hundley, also two brothers, Messrs. Jas. and Willis Hundley and four sisters, Mrs. J. D. Bassett and Mrs. C. C. Bassett of Bassett, and Mrs. R. R. Burchfield of Roanoke, and Mrs. N. F. Burge of Martinsville.
Burial in Oakwood Cemetery.
All stores in town closed for the funeral.
