Grace was the daughter of James Wiley King and Ella Harris. Siblings were Charicie Isabel, Ninnie Mae, Jim Corene, Joseph Hyatt, Ora Ernestine, Lurleen and Burl Lucille "Ceil" King. Grace married Murray Cartlidge and their children were Mary Ann and Wanda Sue Cartlidge.

Childress – Mrs. Murray (Grace) Cartlidge, age 57, long time resident of Kirkland, died at 2 a.m. Thursday, July 9th, in Saint Anthony's Hospital at Amarillo. Mrs. Cartlidge had been in ill health for some time and had undergone heart surgery Wednesday morning in Saint Anthony Hospital. Funeral service was from the First Baptist church in Kirkland Thursday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jay Riley officiating. Interment was held in the Kirkland Cemetery under the direction of Newberry Funeral Home. Mrs. Cartlidge was born March 23, 1913, in Childress and had lived in the Kirkland community 40 years. The former Miss Grace King, she married Murray Cartlidge June 24, 1933 in Childress. Survivors are her husband, Murray, of the home, two daughters, Mrs. Mary Ann Dixon of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Mrs. Sue Cockran of Fort Worth, five sisters, Mrs. Etta Williams, Mrs. Cloyce (Ernestine) Holeman, Mrs. Jud (Minnie) Clements, Mrs. Sylvester (Lurlene) White and Mrs. Joe (Ceil) Hix, Jr., all of Childress; two brothers, B. H. King and Hyatt King, both of Childress; five grandchildren,
