Juanita Johns Handley Higginbotham, 75 (b. 23 Oct 1925), of Crosby, TX, and formerly of Brunswick, died Tuesday (31 Oct 2000).

A funeral service was held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at the New Hope Cemetery in the Hickox Community with the Rev. Randy Wainright officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimers Association.

Her parents were George Daniel Handley and Lessie Mae Deloach Handley. She was the widow of Edgar Johnson "E.J." Higginbotham.

Surviving are a daughter, Judy Baker of Brunswick; two stepdaughters, Charlotte Ricks of Brunswick and Lynnah Mancil of Virginia; three sisters, Mildred Mixon of Blackshear, Ruth Voight and Jerri Shannon, both of Crosby, TX; and two brothers, James "Jim" Johns of Nahunta, and Demery Johns of Austin, TX.

Mrs. Higginbotham was a native of Glynn County. She graduated from Milby High School in Houston, TX. She lived in Brunswick from 1946 to 1991 and then resided in Crosby, TX, until her death. She was a bookkeeper and a member of Northside Baptist Church.

Chambless Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
