Mrs. Catherine Jane Eaton, 79, 412 Decatur St. died Saturday at 7:40 p.m. in a Rome hospital following an illness of several years.

Mrs. Eaton was born in Chattooga County, July 7, 1892, daughter of the late Robert Gentry and Martha Kelley Gentry. She had been a resident of Walker County most of her life moving to Rome 14 years ago. She was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Wesley Wilson (to whom she was married on December 22, 1912) on May 10, 1921 and William Armstrong Eaton (to whom she was married on September 20, 1925) on April 30, 1943.

Survivors include four sons, Earnest Wilson, Rome, Troy A. Eaton, Tampa Fla., James and Robert Eaton, both of Rome; two daughters, Mrs. John Hyde, Rome, Mrs. Myrtice Eaton, Lafayette; five step-sons, Willie, Woody, Mose, Sam, and Ben Eaton, all of Lafayette; one step-daughter, Mrs. Mary Junkins, Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Lillie McCain, Rome and Mrs. Mary Phillips, Summerville; one brother, Tom Gentry, Summerville; 23 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at New Canaan Baptist Church with the Revs. Billy Coulter and Max Tucker officiating. Interment will be in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The body will lie in state at the residence until the funeral hour.

Pallbearers include David Hyde, Ronald Eaton, Houston Eaton, Wesley Wilson, Charles Eaton and Freddie Wilson.

Jennings Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
