The Rev Roy Beal 90 of Mt Vernon died 4:20 a.m. Oct 16, 1996, at St Mary's Hospital in Centralia.

He was a farmer and Baptist minister.

The Rev Beal was born April 16, 1906, in Field Township, Jefferson County, a son of Charles and Effie (Sechrest) Beal. June 25, 1927 at the E.M. Beal residence, he married Ruby Tinsley. She preceded him in death Aug 8, 1990

The Rev Beal is survived by two sons, Wayne Beal and wife Viola, and Charles Beal and wife Phyllis; a daughter Effie Mae Austin and husband Chalon; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a half brother Henry (Bill) and Wife Virginia.

He was a member of the East Salem Baptist Church. The Rev Beal had preached for 56 years and had pastored at the East Salem, Hams Graove, Pleasant Grove, Harmony, Ellis Mound, Old Union, Mt. Zion, and Panther Fork churches. He had also served as moderator of the Salem South Baptist Association in 1966 and 1967.

The Rev Beal was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son Edwin Lee Beal; four brothers; two sisters; and one half sister.
