Oneta Hawkins, 84, of Whitney passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000.

Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. today at Marshall and Marshall in Whitney.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Old Perry Cemetery near Moody with the Rev. Perry Eaton officiating.

Mrs. Hawkins was born April 3, 1916 in Baylor County to Thomas and Willie (Bradford) Fancher. She grew up and lived most of her life in West Texas. She married Lum C. Hawkins in 1930 and moved to McLennan County. She moved to Dallas in 1963 and then to Whitney in 1983. She was a seamstress in the garment manufacturing industry. She was of the Methodist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1956; three sons, one daughter, three brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Hawkins is survived by her daughters, Millie Ann Farrar of Whitney and Bettie Jean Herod of Barry; brother, Shelby Fancher of Weatherford; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
