Peggy Jordan Ford, 88 of Seymour, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017, in Seymour.

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with services to follow on Monday, January 1, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Seymour with Dr. David Warren officiating. Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home, Seymour, Texas.

Peggy Jo Jordan Ford was born July 19, 1929 in Seymour to Gene and Sarah Bingham Fancher. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, a graduate of Seymour High School, and worked as a bookkeeper for various businesses in the community. Peggy had a deep love for music that started at a very young age and played several instruments. However, she focused mainly on the fiddle and the piano. While in high school, Peggy worked at a record shop in Seymour where she and her sister, Emma Gene, recorded several 78 records. She met Floyd Jordan, while playing for a dance, as a member of an all-girls band. The couple married on June 4, 1948. He passed away after 45 years of marriage on December 15, 1993. On March 16, 1996, Peggy married Eddie Ford. She and Eddie lived in Seagoville for a time, where she played regularly at a diner in the area, as well as their church. After a few years, Peggy and Eddie came back to Seymour due to her declining health. She played and sang at many jamborees, the Seymour Senior Citizens Center, and the First Baptist Church. Mamie Peggy took great pride and pleasure in playing the piano during family gatherings (especially Christmas) for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Eddie passed away December 31, 2016. Peggy was also preceded in death by an infant son, Jo Floyd Jordan on June 4, 1950, a granddaughter, Shonda Jordan on February 11, 2001; 5 sisters and an infant brother.

She is survived by 2 sons, Gene and Patsy Jordan of Iowa Park and Terry and Susan Jordan of Midland; 4 grandchildren, LeAnn and Jacen Scharbrough, Jody and Vanessa Jordan, Sandi and Jared Lindsey and Terra and Tanner Gearn; and 5 great grandchildren, Kolton, Jaden, Callan, Hayes and Miles.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, the Seymour Cemetery Association, or a charity of choice.
