Mrs. Pearl Childress, age 79 of Mt. Vernon, died Friday, January 30, 2009 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. She was born in Rockcastle Co., KY on March 5, 1929 the daughter of Leander and Mae Sowder McKinney and was a member of the Mt. Vernon Church of God.
She is survived by one son: Sandy and Sharon Childress of Mt. Vernon; two daughters: Anita and Ronnie Mills of Cynthiana, KY and Rena and Robert Kidwell of Lexington, KY; and two sisters: Freda Alcorn of Mt. Vernon and Nadine Phelps of Texas. Also surviving are six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Childress was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Childress; a son: Stephen "Bucky" Childress and one grandson: Lee.
