Mrs. Freda Alcorn, age 86 of Mt. Vernon, widow of former Rockcastle County Jailer and Mt. Vernon Council Member, Elmer Alcorn, died Saturday, Apr. 10, 2014 at the Rockcastle Regional Hospital. She was born in Blue Springs on May 29, 1927 the daughter of Leander and May Sowder McKinney. She was a homemaker and a former Deputy Jailer for Rockcastle County. She was a member and co-founder of Faith Chapel Pentecostal Church. She loved going to church and quilting, and most of all, spending time with her family, grandchildren, and friends.

She is survived by a son, Samuel Glenn Alcorn and wife Carol of Mt. Vernon; five daughters, Barbara Baker and husband Mike of Crittenden, Peggy Falin and Tracie Alcorn, both of Mt. Vernon, Joan Anderson and husband Mike of Versailles, and Janie Lafevers and husband Larry of Monticello; ten grandchildren, Craig Baker, Brian Baker, Kristie Falin Bustle, John Kevin Falin, Anthony Anderson, Jennifer Anderson Lawrence, Adam Alcorn, Megan Alcorn Lovett, John Curtis Lafevers, and Savannah Smith; and seven great grandchildren, Jacob Smither, Drew Lawrence, Gavin Lovett, Andrew Anderson, Jarrod Baker, Leah Elizabeth Lafevers, and Brice Lafevers. Also surviving are special loved ones, Shane Smith, Tyler Howard, Emily Griffin, Carla Creech, and Karen Noe. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Elmer Alcorn; her parents, Leander and May Alcorn; three brothers, Robert Sherman McKinney, Luke McKinney, and Mark McKinney; six sisters, Zola Bosserman, Alma Rowe, Pauline Decker, Pearl Childress, Nadine Phelps, and Arnella Alcorn; an infant brother; and a great grandchild, Robert Matthew Lawrence.
