Ruth "Aunt Ruth" Emmett Cobain, 89, of Henderson, passed away peacefully Jan. 29, 2009, surrounded by her family. She, like the hummingbirds and butterflies she adored, fluttered from person to person, checking in and taking care of those around her. Born in Richfield, Utah, in 1919, she moved to Las Vegas in the 1940's and married Chester "Chet" Cobain. Through their 56 years of marriage, both Ruth and Chet were instrumental in the lives of many, becoming like second family. In addition to taking care of others, she loved to read, garden and cheer on the Lakers. Ruth's sweet spirit will be remembered by the many friends and family strengthened by her love and generosity. She is survived by her sisters, Myrtle, Rose and Emma Jane; her son, Jon Cobain, his wife, Judy; her grandchildren, Erika and Leif; and great-grandchild, Kai. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #1213. "Death leaves a heartache nothing can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal." Robert Ingersol. Viewing will be 10-11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 7, with memorial service following, both at 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89123, (702) 464-8500. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
