Suggested edit: A 36-year-old Somerville 3 man was killed late Thursday afternoon when he fell beneath a piece of farm equipment.
Morgan County Coroner Lewis C. (Pinkie) Brown said William C. Sandlin was killed instantly when he fell from the tractor and was run over by a bush cutter.
The coroner said Sandlin was operating the tractor and bush cutter when the tractor apparently hit a stump, throwing him beneath the cutter.
Brown said Mrs. Sandlin found her husband around 7 p.m. last night. The coroner said she became worried about him when he didn't come home and decided to go look for him.
Funeral services for Sandlin will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Somerville Methodist Church with the Rev. David Atkins and the Rev. Leon Sellers officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include the widow, Ida Sandlin, Somerville 3; three daughters, Janet Sandlin, Judy Sandlin and Miss Bonita Mooneyham; two sons, Troy Mooneyham and Eddie Mooneyham, Somerville 3; mother, Mrs. Lillian Sandlin, Hartselle 2; four sisters, Mrs. Judson James, Mrs. Pervin Wallace both of Hartselle 3; Mrs. Homer Long, Hartselle 4; Mrs Ruth Taylor, Baton Rouge, La; four brothers, L. J. Sandlin, Hartselle; Eugene Sandlin, Rogersville; Joe Sandlin, Hartselle; Pryor Sandlin, Hartselle 4.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
He was a member of the Oak Ridge Methodist Church.
The body will be taken to the residence today at 4 p.m. and will remain there until time to be taken to the church for services.
