Emma was born to Solomon and Elizabeth (Croft) Morgan. By 1880, Emma's family was living in Hernando County, Florida. Her father passed away when she was only 10 years old. On October 23, 1886 Emma married John O'Berry in Hernando County, Florida. Together they had nine children: Annie, Zola Ophelia, William "Bud", Leona, Ossie, Vina, Grace, Mable, and Willie.
