Dorothy Jeanne Jackson passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at her home due to age and health conditions. She resided at 650 North 300 West in the Marmalade District of the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Salt Lake City, Utah at the time of her death.

Jeanne was born in Salt Lake City on October 17, 1937, the beloved daughter of Dr. H. M. and Dorothy Evans Jackson.

She was educated in Salt Lake City public schools and graduated in 1956 from East High School. She attended Westminster College, where she enjoyed her studies in business. Jeanne retired from Beneficial Life Insurance Company after 30 years of service in the print and copy section.

Jeanne was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully as secretary of the LDS Hospital Branch of the Church for many years. She visited at the hospital once or twice a week, as well as the Sunday Service.

Jeanne became skilled in wood carving. Her home reflected her talent in needlepoint and embroidery, which she shared with family and friends. Jeanne especially loved to travel and looked forward to a couple of trips a year. She traveled extensively in Europe, visited the Antarctic, cruised the seas and had many exciting adventures.

Jeanne was dedicated and cared lovingly for her parents in their declining years. She was an accomplished family historian, gathering, compiling and creating volumes of Pioneer family histories. She was a great-great-grandchild of several very significant early LDS pioneers, who came West with Brigham Young. Jeanne loved the family gatherings with her aunts, uncles and many cousins.

Jeanne is survived by her Aunt Marjorie Buehner, Uncle John (Pat) Evans and many cousins from the Jackson, Buehner and Evans families. She was preceded in death by her wonderful parents.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 5, 2009 in the Larkin Mortuary Chapel, 260 East South Temple Street, Salt Lake City, where a viewing will be held one hour prior to the services.
