Betty Jean Rupp, 58, of High Rolls, NM died Thursday, July 14, in an Alamogordo, NM hospital.

Mrs. Rupp grew up at Lutie and will be remembered as Betty Bennett, the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Benneett, with whom she made her home. She was also a niece of Mrs. Jimmie Kelso and Mrs. Selba Rainey and Mrs. Carrie Boykin of Childress.

She was born February 10, 1930 in Collingsworth County. She graduated from Sanmorwood High School and attended a business college in Oklahoma City.

She was employed in Wellington State Bank and later in a bank at Tulia. She was married to Lee Compton, while at Tulia, and they moved to Cloudcroft, NM. He preceded her in death.

Later she married Ira Rupp of Cloudcroft.

Mrs. Russ was manager of the Cloudcroft Branch Bank of First National Bank of Alamogordo.

Mrs. Rupp had lived in the Cloudcroft and High Rolls area of southeast New Mexico many years.

Survivors are her husband, Ira Rupp of High Rolls, NM; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Dawn Rupp of Cloudcroft, NM, Richard and Karen Compton of Seagraves, Doug and Karen Rupp of Belen, NM; daughters and sons-in-law: Deborah and Antonio Gonclaves of Albuquerque, NM, Carolyn Moser of Tempe, AZ and Diana Rupp of Barber's Point, Hawaii, six grandchildren, her mother, Gladys McFadden of Klamath Falls, OR; her father, Herbert C. Bennett of Fritch; two brothers, James Bennett of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and Wayne McFadden of Anchorage, Alaska.
