Texas James Bennett, 83, passed from this life into heaven January 2, 2022 in Amarillo. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday in the Minton Memorial Chapel with Tex's Children officiating. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Fairview Cemetery in Wellington, TX under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.

Tex was born January 23, 1938 in Pittsburg, PA to Herbert Claude Bennett and Mary Edith McKinnon Bennett. He married Lois Strong November 15, 1954 in South Dakota. He lived a very interesting life being an Ironworker and Minister of the Gospel. He loved sharing The Good News of Jesus to anyone and he loved his family. Tex loved anything outdoors including, but not limited to, camping, skydiving and riding four wheelers with his grandkids, and his dog Gus who preceded him in death by a few days. He was known far and wide as a praying man and a great storyteller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Nigel Bennett and his sister Betty Compton.

Tex is survived by his loving wife of sixty-seven years Lois, his two sons Jim Bennett and his wife Charlotte of Fritch and Colby Bennett and his wife Jessy of Fritch, his three daughters Cheryl Lynn Hamilton and her husband Brett of Palm Desert, CA, Gaye Lee Newlun and her husband David of Palm Desert, CA and Rae Lynn Snidal of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, his 18 Grandchildren and his 22 Great-Grandchildren.

Family will gather with friends at the Fritch funeral home from 5:00 until 7:00 Thursday evening for visitation.
