Charles Alison Basinger was the son of Emily Bangs and Finley Basinger of Logan County, Arkansas. His father was born in Tennessee, his mother, Indian Territory (OK).

He first married Iva Geneva Butler. They established their home in Stillwell, Adair, Oklahoma, From their marriage, they one son was born, Dennis Charles Basinger.

Later, Charles married Joyce Atkins, July 4, 1926, in adjoining Washington County, Arkansas.

With the rank of Corporal, Charles A. Basinger served his country during World War I with Battery 57 F, Field Artillery.

Charles passed in 1955. His wife, Joyce, died in 1979. They are buried at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Oklahoma.

OBITUARY
Funeral services for Charles A. Basinger, 62 years old, who died July 14, was held Monday morning at Roberts Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gordon Spencer, Pastor of the Methodist Church of Stigler, officiating, assisted by Rev. Nelson Galloway, Pastor of the Stiwlell Methodist Church.
Mr. Basinger was born July 7, 1893, at Booneville, Arkansas. He received his grade and high school education at Booneville, and later attended Draughon Business School in Fort Smith.
He was a graduate of Ray's Automobile School of Kansas City, Missouri, and operated the first bus company through Stilwell, Westville, Sallisaw, and Tahlequah for several years.
He was married to Miss Joyce Akin of Sallisaw July 4, 19126, from which time he lived in rural Stilwell.
Mr. Basinger retired from active business about ten years ago, because of ill health. He was a member of the Methodist church.
He was a member of Flint Lodge No. 11, A.F.&A.M. Stilwell, and 32nd degree Mason of Indian Consistory at McAlester. He was a veteranof the first world war, and was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce of the home; one son, J.D. of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; two sisters, Mrs. Herbert Godfrey and Mrs. Frank Cleveland, both of Booneville, AR, and two brothers, B. F. Basinger of Booneville, and George Basinger of Taft, CA.
Masonic rites and American Legion rites were conducted at the grave site a the National Cemetery at Fort Gibson.
Committal rites were by Rev. Galloway at the cemetery Roberts Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
