John Finley Basinger was the son of William Allison Basinger and grandson of George Sea Basinger and Feany (Basinger) Basinger.

Note: A Basinger married a Basinger. George Sea Basinger married Feany Basinger on 15 MAR 1809 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina.

John Finley Basinger was the husband of Emmaline "Emily" Bangs.

They married on 18 JAN 1872 in Booneville, then Scott County now Logan County, Arkansas.

They were the parents of at least 3 children:

1) Smith Edward Basinger, husband of Mary "Molly" Elizabeth Smith.

1) Benjamin "Ben" Franklin Basinger, husband of Anice Lynch.

2) Tessie Ann Basinger, wife of Armon Frank Cleveland.
