He joined the 26th Regt., GA Vol. Infantry, *CSA* but he was later discharged from that unit, and then enlisted in the 4th Georgia Cavalry (Clinch's), *CSA* where he served the balance of the War. He was elected as 5th Sgt, in 1863 and 4th Sgt. In 1864. Any muster Roll of the 4th GA Cavalry (Clinch's) will confirm this. [Do not confuse them with the 4th Georgia Cavalry (Avery's).]
